Today, I touched down in Lagos and decided to visit some bars to catch up with friends.
One interesting notice, hanging on walls in strategic areas, woke me up to how bad the drug problem is getting.
“NO HARD DRUGS ALLOWED ON THIS PREMISES.”
It was in all caps to ensure there was no mistaking the strong stance of their management.
Such a notice would not even make sense a couple of years ago, but in these times, it is relevant.
Mental ill-health is the silent pandemic, and drug abuse is one of its symptoms.
I am thankful for institutions creating spaces that intentionally nurture mental health.
