The Silent Ones

The ones who were kind and generous to me in my early days are the least demanding.

The ones who were unavailable are the most entitled.

For too long, I have been distracted by the entitled. It seems the more I give of myself, the more entitled they get. Trying to be to them what they never were to me ends up becoming a vicious cycle.

The kind and generous are also the most grateful. The little things matter more to them. I feel like I an enough anytime I connect with them, thus feeding a virtuous cycle.

The ones who truly care about us are the silent ones, which is why we ignore them.

It pays to stop and check in on them, no matter how noisy everyone else gets.
