The best part

Give the best part of you to your home, not the leftover.

Hard as you work, there is no excuse that will stand the test of time, if you only give a “spent you” to your home.

One way to balance it is to share stories of work at home. Previous generations told stories of their craft to their partners and children. The family basically was in on work, and whatever could not be said at home was avoided at work.

Things are slowly flipping the other way round these days. Colleagues know more about the inner workings of eachother’s homes than family knows about the inner workings of work.

I commit to make a conscious effort to reflect on my day by sharing, without breaching confidentiality, the important parts of my work day with my wife (and children).
