A Snort

The first time you snort as you fall asleep, it jolts you awake.

You’re alert to the strange sound, even though it’s coming from you.

If you take action—by changing your sleeping position, clearing your nostrils, or not waiting until you’re totally exhausted to sleep—the snoring stops.

But most people don’t take action. They let it slide, calling it a one-off. One-offs, repeated over time, become habits.

A snort is like every bad habit. You’re conscious of it at the start, but slowly become it if you do nothing about it in its infancy.
