“It is better to have a heat rash than to have a cold.”
Those were the guiding words of my grandmother, and she dressed us up accordingly.
A heat rash might cause an itch, but it can be easily soothed with a balm. If you indulge the itch, it can leave a scar, but the scars from a heat rash fade away.
A cold will cause you to sneeze, and it will run its course of discomfort for three to five days before you find ease again. If you’re unlucky, it can enable pneumonia, whose effects can last a lifetime.
I have never regretted dressing warmly. I can always take off a jacket when it gets hot.
I have sometimes regretted dressing lightly. It is not easy to find a jacket when it gets cold.
It is better to be overprepared than underprepared.
