No two people are ever on the same journey, even though they are on the same road.
How many times have you noticed an incident on the side of the road, turned to a co-traveler to discuss it, and realized they didn’t notice it until you mentioned it?
How many times has a family member described something in your childhood that seemed to be a standout event, and it got you fascinated because the story is as new as a penny to you?
This is why, in relationships, it is wise to check which journey your partner is on, what experiences they are having, what their five senses are perceiving, where you are heading, why you are together, when they feel connected, who you are being, and who they are becoming.
It is wise not to assume your experiences are the same as your partner’s. Otherwise, you will be on two different journeys while on the same road.
Understanding is second only to sacrifice as a marker of love.
