When I move to a new town, a reliable indicator that I have settled in is when I have found a barber who gives me a perfect shave.
There are towns I never really settle into because I am basically stuck with barbers who talk more than they cut.
There are towns I struggle to leave because I dread the idea of losing my barber.
I visited a new town this week and decided to flirt with a new barber. To my mind, even if the haircut did not turn out right, I had the weekend to travel back home and connect with my reliable barber. But this new barber was really something.
From the way a barber begins, you can tell how the story will end. Even I, for the first time, lingered in front of a mirror.
I am now considering relocating to this town to be closer to this barber.
Yes, I am writing about barbers.
