Redundant Capacity

I recall a return trip I made from Ibadan to Lagos for a wedding.

I lost a tire on my way there. I had a spare. No lele.

I got to Lagos late for the wedding and just rushed to the venue.

Wedding over, I got in my car and started heading back to Ibadan. Remembered I didn’t have a spare tire but felt I could ride my luck.

Halfway back, my luck ran out. I lost another tire. It was 8:00 p.m. at night in a dangerous area known for armed robberies.

I called a friend to pick me up, but after an hour, I realized it was best to continue my journey. 3 tires and a rim, I drove at 30 km/hr for the rest of the journey, literally riding on a rim, until I arrived at a safe spot by midnight.

Never rode my luck again.

I either work with a redundant capacity or not at all.
