There are two things that bring out the best in people: observation and acknowledgment.
Nowhere is this more obvious than in children.
They are not able to mask their need for both. They check if you’re watching and check for validation when they make progress.
If you’re locked in, the excitement you will find in them will bring you the sweetest nectar of joy.
If you’re distracted, they get stuck, and in many instances, act out.
That behavioral pattern compounds as we grow.
The job to be done for those in your care is to continually observe and acknowledge. Then watch them blossom.
