Happiness

Happiness is neither in the past nor in the future. It exists now.

It is found in meaning. Luckily, you define meaning.

Religion thrives because it helps define meaning for every context.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 (NIV)

Psychologists sometimes refer to it as pronoia – a delusion that all things are conspiring for ones good.

Here’s a trick that has worked for me. Please don’t use it always, lest you lose its potency.

When someone asks you, “How are you?” Respond with “I am happy”.

The first time I replied with “I am happy”, it caught my friend off guard. The questions that followed were an inquest into why I think I am happy. Responding actually made me more thankful and of course, happy.

Choose happiness. It is always a choice.
