All have sinned

Luke 5:27-32
After this he went out, and saw a tax collector, named Levi, sitting at the tax office; and he said to him, “Follow me.”
And he left everything, and rose and followed him.
And Levi made him a great feast in his house; and there was a large company of tax collectors and others sitting at table with them.
And the Pharisees and their scribes murmured against his disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”
And Jesus answered them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick; I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

Homily:

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23

“So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall” – 1 Corinthians 10:12

A lot of us keep Jesus away, because we profess that we perfect and complete, righteous and free, pure and holy.

Jesus knows otherwise, but can a physician treat a human that says “I am well”? How will a physician even meet a patient that thinks “I am well”.

Imagine that God did not send Jesus for you. His expression of love in John 3:16, was not with you in mind. Unimaginable right? Well that is what we ensure when we act like we have it all figured out.

Jesus came because we need Him. He came and lived our story. He understands. He has skin in the game. To help us, we need to seek Him, in every moment of our lives, like the sick seek a physician.
