Responsibility vs Guilt

When things go horribly wrong, as they sometimes do, a leader is faced with 2 choices: responsibility or guilt.

When he chooses responsibility, improvement action follows.

When he chooses guilt, blame-game follows.

As humans, what is outside our control is orders of magnitude greater than what is within our control.

Responsibility is how we learn from the surprises that life serves. Guilt blocks learning and shuts us down.

Things happen, own it, and be lifted by whatever may be.
