Flexibility

I find that some of my mentees struggle with the value of flexibility at work. They feel it degrades all other values, as values are at their core inflexible.

Here’s the thing: there is a difference between flexibility and shape-shifting.

Most times, when I dig deeper into their concerns, I notice that what they’re describing is shape-shifting and not flexibility.

Shape-shifting is a total makeover of yourself to fit in. It is the art of blending into a place you should not be in the first place.

Flexibility, on the other hand, is an adjustment to a change in your environment in order to continue thriving. It is the art of taking the learning from the questions your environment asks.

Shape-shifting eliminates your core and leaves you formless.

Flexibility builds your core and strengthens your form.
