Where there is guilt, there is no freedom.
Guilt has been—and will continue to be—the number one regret.
It is the ego’s ultimate weapon. If you cannot be controlled, then you must be constrained. Nothing constrains like guilt.
Here’s the crazy part: even when society exonerates you, until you exonerate yourself, you are never truly free.
The weight of guilt bends the soul, then breaks it, ensuring you cannot lift your head to see the light. You cannot see the truth.
You are human and fallible.
Even if better choices than the one you made exist, there is no guarantee they would lead to better outcomes.
The outcome you have now is the only one that can be judged. That does not mean it is the worst outcome. No one knows what the outcome of the other choice could have been.
Guilt may beat you down in the moment to teach you a lesson. Fine. But take the lesson, move forward, and leave guilt behind.
Once the moment passes, guilt serves no further purpose in learning. It only binds you to an alternate reality you can never live.
Let it go.
