I like the military folklore where your wife is described as a higher-ranking officer than you, and you must respect her accordingly.
Think about it.
Imagine if the same respect, reverence, confidence, deference, and consideration you offer your superior is always offered to your spouse. Imagine the bliss.
If you struggle to imagine it, try it.
Don’t judge it. Try it and see what happens.
Oh, and by the way, in the trajectory of your life, your wife can cause you more good and/or more evil than any superior can. And her reach goes beyond the present into your bloodline.
We give our best to those who only care for what we bring to the table and bring back what is left to those who care for you at the table. A misnomer that becomes more apparent in hindsight.
